A couple in Japan decided to have a robot officiate at their wedding. A heart warming video was released that showed the robot gibing instructions in Japanese. Robots in Japan work assembling cars and performing with precision tasks which would be incredibly boring for live human beings. The Japanese are even programming dolls with personalities that make them suitable for (ahem) companionship. What I found most amusing was a video of a wedding in which two dancers did a very convincing portrayal of robots dancing. I had to look closely to make sure they were both human.
Although robots may capture our imagination, it is most remarkable how we have become captives of our technology turning to our computers and devices as a prism through which we refract our social interaction. My all time favorite robot song is “Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto” Which is Japanese fro “Thank You Very Much Mr. Robot”
